You should also note that a reconditioned battery has output 70% of the brand new battery output, which is more than enough. First remove the battery followed by rubber which protects the caps. Remove all the caps of the battery. Don’t keep any cap on. Don’t put the caps back. Charge the battery for about an hour, and you will see the bubbles on the holes. However, if there are no bubbles, reverse the positive and negative wires. Wait for about 2-3 minutes. You can now see the bubbles. Revert the wires back to the original position and recharge the battery for additional half an hour. If required, you can also replace the acid inside the battery while mixing new acid with distilled water. Later on, recharge the battery for a few hours, and you get a battery which lasts for a long time.

What’s the most important factor in buying replacement batteries? Expiration date! Dollar for dollar, alkaline batteries with a distant expiration date (fresher battery) will give greater value than an expensive battery that will expire sooner. Check the side of the battery to determine its DCvoltage. Commonly, AA, AAA, C, and D are 1.5 V, and rectangular batteries are 9V. Set the multimeter to the VDC (volts of direct current) scale. Touch the red multimeter probe to the battery’s [+] terminal and the black probe to the [-] terminal. If the reading is more than 10 percent below the rated output (1.35 V or 8.1 V), the battery is bad and should be replaced.
Put the plastic cover back on the battery pack (just the part that goes into the charger) and set your battery on the charger to see if it will take a charge. If you still only get a red flashing light and the battery won't charge, boost the battery some more. I find the battery charger will recognize that the battery is good again when you boost it to between 10 and 14 volts.
