Hi, is it possible to simply bypass a solid state switch that requires an activation code? What if one solders the positive terminal of the battery pack directly to the positive pin of the connector? In my case I have a 3 cell battery pack from a lenovo netbook, ideapad s10e. It has a 7pin connector. The first pin is the positive and the last (the 7th) is the negative (ground). The individual cells are all new and fully charged (4,2v each). Being connected in series the voltage of the pack is 12.6v. However, the solid state switch cuts off current to the positive pin. What if I connect it directly to the red wire from the battery? Thank you for your time!

Depending on the battery pack's construction, it can range anywhere from extremely easy to excruciatingly difficult to open the battery and remove the bad cells. As long as you can identify the bad cells and remove them from the battery pack, you will be able to repair the battery. It also may be as simple as balancing the series groups that are out of balance from the rest of the pack. It could even be as simple as the BMS went into safe mode and needs to be woken up.
You don’t need much space to complete a battery replacement, but you do need proper lighting. Do this job outside in the daytime or in a well-lit area indoors. Disconnect the negative terminal with a small wrench (8mm or 10 mm). Disconnect the positive terminal. Remove the battery holder/clamp and any bolts or screws keeping it in place. Remove the battery from the battery tray (it may be heavier than you expect).
