Great idea , but do you have to pull the battery apart ? Can you not just boost it from the two charging tabs on the stem of the battery ?

Another thing you can do is feel the battery to see if any particular spot is producing more heat than other areas of the battery pack. If after doing those things you feel like your battery might be bad, then you will have to tear it down enough to be able to measure the voltage of each cell group. Find the group or groups that have a lower voltage than the rest of the cells and remove it from the pack. After that, those cells just need to be replaced.
This situation will cause your battery to have a reduced capacity and will lead to premature failure and a loss of performance under load. It will also produce more heat within the battery, which is never a good thing. A BMS is used to help keep a battery in balance, if a BMS fails or is inadequate a pack can become out of balance over time.
Always replace batteries in a device as a set. That is, if a device requires four AA batteries, replace them all at once because one low battery can drain the others or still not power the device. You can mix brands, but not battery types such as alkaline and dry cell. Never mix sizes (AA and AAA, for example).

Measure the voltage of a repaired pack and check it again after 24 hours and a few days. If a cell drops lower than another in the pack, then there is fear of elevated self-discharge(See BU-802b: Elevated Self-discharge) Simple Guidelines when Repairing Battery Packs Only connect cells that are matched. Do not mix cells of different chemistry, age or capacity.Never charge or discharge Li-ion batteries unattended without a working protection circuit. Each cell must be monitored individually with a protection circuit.Include a temperature sensor that disrupts the current should the pack get hot.Apply a slow charge to a repaired pack to bring all cells to parity.Pay attention when using an unknown cell brand.
