Hi, is it possible to simply bypass a solid state switch that requires an activation code? What if one solders the positive terminal of the battery pack directly to the positive pin of the connector? In my case I have a 3 cell battery pack from a lenovo netbook, ideapad s10e. It has a 7pin connector. The first pin is the positive and the last (the 7th) is the negative (ground). The individual cells are all new and fully charged (4,2v each). Being connected in series the voltage of the pack is 12.6v. However, the solid state switch cuts off current to the positive pin. What if I connect it directly to the red wire from the battery? Thank you for your time!

After a visual inspection to make sure there are no burns anywhere, check to make sure the voltage of the battery is within spec. Also, check to make sure it's holding a charge by checking its voltage with a multimeter right after you charge it. Another thing you can do is feel the battery to see if any particular spot is producing more heat than other areas of the battery pack. If after doing those things you feel like your battery might be bad, then you will have to tear it down enough to be able to measure the voltage of each cell group. Find the group or groups that have a lower voltage than the rest of the cells and remove it from the pack. After that, those cells just need to be replaced.

Insert the new electrolyte into the cell with the help of a funnel. (mainly Epsom salt + water) Next, for a flooded cell, replace the battery cap. For a sealed cell battery, plug the hole in this step. Keep in mind that you have to keep electrolyte properly distributed with no hint of air bubbles inside the cell. Finally, charge it slowly by keeping it on trickle charge overnight and then let it cool. By morning, you have a reformed cell in your hand that performs as good as new!
