Hi, is it possible to simply bypass a solid state switch that requires an activation code? What if one solders the positive terminal of the battery pack directly to the positive pin of the connector? In my case I have a 3 cell battery pack from a lenovo netbook, ideapad s10e. It has a 7pin connector. The first pin is the positive and the last (the 7th) is the negative (ground). The individual cells are all new and fully charged (4,2v each). Being connected in series the voltage of the pack is 12.6v. However, the solid state switch cuts off current to the positive pin. What if I connect it directly to the red wire from the battery? Thank you for your time!

Hi, This was a great article. I had disconnected my Dell Studio 1535 battery circuit from the battery for a whole day and now its not working. I was hoping you can tell me which 'Ground' connection to give the 100 ohm resistor ? Make sure you don't see any burn marks or blackened areas. Also, check for signs of leaking fluid. Also, keep an eye out for dents. Remember, cylindrical battery cells are made of a roll of material that is tightly packed in a canister. If there is any sort of substantial dent that is visible from the outside of the cell, then that dent is more than likely causing some level of short circuit within the cell.

If you feel the battery’s surface in various places during normal operation, you’ll be able to check for hotspots.
The battery appears to be losing 1-2% of its initial charge every day. If discharge continues at that rate, the vehicle would need to be driven (or battery otherwise recharged once per week) to stay in usable condition. I wouldn't use it as a primary battery in a vehicle, but left tended it could be put into "service" as a backup battery should my friend run into trouble with his new battery.
