Tip the battery on its edge and allow approximately half the battery acid to run out of each cell and into a plastic container. Clean the battery with your paintbrush dipped in a baking soda solution as described in Step 2. Rinse your battery with plain water, making certain none of the water gets into any of the cells.

Hi I have a toshiba satellite c55t-b5110. I was wondering, given that I know for a fact I need a new battery for the laptop, if it is possible to replace the terminals on the laptop where the battery connects to the laptop for the battery to charge.
Hi I have Samsung Series 9 ultrabook NP900 X3B A01UK. This ran out of charge and the light on the charger was not on. I replaced the charger with an originL Samsung unit the laptop powered up however the charger appeared to fail immediately and the laptop shut down. On unplugging the charger it was quite warm and again the power light is not on even though the fuse has not blown. It appears something in the laptop is causing the charger to fail. Do you have any advice, could this simply be caused by a failed battery or something more seriously wrong with the laptop? Kind Regards Len

How much of a charge you get will be dependant on the age of the battery, and how long it has been discharged.
I have a HP Pavilion laptop which is around one year old, it's very rarely used only a few hours use. A battery shop may salvage good cells from a failed pack for reuse but the recovered cell should be checked for capacity, internal resistance and self-discharge – the three key health indicators of a battery. When checking a cell with a battery analyzer, mark the capacity so it can be matched with a pack that may need a cell of similar capacity level. Also make certain that the internal resistance is in par with a good cell and verify the self-discharge. Electro-mechanical stress often manifests itself in elevated self-discharge. To check self-discharge, fully charge the cell, measure the voltage and compare the voltage after 24 hours and perhaps a week with the voltage drop of known good cells.

I've Panasonic CF29 tough Book. And it's battery is giving poor backup from 75% capacity. It gets immediately discharge after 75%. I've talked to Panasonic engineers but they said, they have stopped production of this product and unfortunately they also don't have stock of accessories of this tough book. Step 2: Examine the cells and their connections visually to make sure there are no obvious issues like leaking fluid or burn marks.
If you have a 12V battery that has low voltage (3-6V) the charger may not work directly. For complex reasons, you have to provide a lot more current in a battery that has been deeply discharged. So what you can do is use booster cables and connect the low battery to the good battery. (positive-to-positive, negative-to-negative) Leave them connected for a couple minutes. If your good battery is in a car, leave the car OFF.

1) They get too low, they're useless now. They will shut off before they get too low, but;
SIR, My laptop ASUS X540S, three month ago his battery had a cell from three damaged and I continued to use it like that. The battery has 3 cells, the middle one had 0V, the two others had 3.88V and I replaced the damaged with a new one. Unfortunately now the battery seems disconnected from the charger. I see 13% available (plugged in, charging), but battery do not charge. When disconnected, the 3-d terminal shows 3,2V, the 8 others 0V. When charger is connected : terminals 1 and 2 have 0,06V, 3 have 3,2V, 4 0V, 5 and 6 have 3,25V, terminals 7,8 and 9 have 0V. When system started, nothing change. My question, which terminal is the switch one ? If I connect to ground through 100 ohms any terminal, do I risk to damage the computer ? What should I do ?
