I have a HP Pavilion laptop which is around one year old, it's very rarely used only a few hours use. Hi, I have a laptop battery which is suspect. However, I am not sure whether it is a problem with the cells or a problem with the way the laptop is charging the battery. I have opened up the battery. It is organised into three pairs of cells. Each pair is connected in parallel. I don't want to disconnect the cells from the battery circuit board, so I was wondering if I can connect my 18650 battery charger and charge (in place), each pair of batteries in turn?
The battery should read at least 12 volts. If your reading shows 10 to 12 volts instead, you may be able to restore the normal function through reconditioning. However, there’s no reason to try it once the battery reaches below 10 volts if you recharged it quite recently. At this point, you are better off getting a replacement.
