I re-celled a laptop battery with 4 cells. After completion, I turned on the laptop but it didn't power up! The laptop does turn on with AC Adapter plugged in, but if I unplug the charger, the laptop shuts down, as if the the battery has been removed. System (Windows 8) shows that the battery has been charged [Plugged in, charging 100%] but the battery doesn't power the laptop! Why? Help!

Well, I will still ask, Maybe someone out there can help. Have a HP DV7 Notebook with a 9C battery. 3 cells died over night. from running normily to zero. Disassembled battery to find 3 cells died. zero Volts. Replace the 3. Now have ~12.6V. Will not charge in windows, Shows 80%. ran Bios battery test. Battery status : Replace (42). was wondering if anyone out there has a way to reload the firmware in the battery charging pcb or edit that data? Many thanks David A.
I purchased a replacement battery for Acer S3 391. Battery model isAP11D3F, AP11D4F. Battery was charged very slowly, but was able to be charged to 100% after 24 hours. But the battery is not able to start the laptop without external power supply plugged in. When unplugged the external power supply, the machine turned off instantly. Voltmeter cannot detect any voltatge output from the battery connectors. "Powercfg -energy" report shows no problem about the battery. Please help.
So, why do lithium batteries stop working? There are several possible reasons why a battery stops working and it could even be a combination of reasons. A BMS does a really great job of protecting a battery pack but they are not perfect and there are some circumstances that render their protections useless. For example, if a battery is shorted out in the wrong area, the overcurrent protection won't be able to cut off the connection. This is unlikely, but it happens.
How to choose properly: make sure output voltage not be any lower than 9V, and the wire section not to be any less than 16 sq. mm.
