I have replaced the PS for my daughter's Gateway MX-6436 LT, and the MB, as it sometimes charges the battery, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it runs with the battery out and the PS in, and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it indicates charging, and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it turns off after 30 min as the power meter indicates a low charge, but won't charge with either PS. I feel I am chasing a ghost. Does anyone have any ideas? Hi, is it possible to simply bypass a solid state switch that requires an activation code? What if one solders the positive terminal of the battery pack directly to the positive pin of the connector? In my case I have a 3 cell battery pack from a lenovo netbook, ideapad s10e. It has a 7pin connector. The first pin is the positive and the last (the 7th) is the negative (ground). The individual cells are all new and fully charged (4,2v each). Being connected in series the voltage of the pack is 12.6v. However, the solid state switch cuts off current to the positive pin.
