Okay by trying this i was able to restore the charging capability for 30 seconds. I figure that this issue should be able to be fixed with a simple solution outside of buying a new battery since it shows signs of recharging. Any other suggestions?

Black wire = negative Striped or solid white wire = positive It is very important to not mix the two up. There's a hidden screw under a piece of plastic. You need to pry the plastic off to get at the screw underneath. I used a very thin screwdriver to pry it off. Volts are symbolized by a "V" with one or two straight lines over it on a multimeter so it's that section of the multimeter that you use. The section under the V with the straight line(s). I have a HP Pavilion laptop which is around one year old, it's very rarely used only a few hours use. If your battery pack is well designed and really has the specifications that it claims (this is more rare than you may think) then your battery should not suddenly go bad. Batteries have a lifespan and they fail over time. This failing, however, should be graceful and manifest itself as a gradual loss of capacity over time.
