I have replaced the PS for my daughter's Gateway MX-6436 LT, and the MB, as it sometimes charges the battery, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it runs with the battery out and the PS in, and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it indicates charging, and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it turns off after 30 min as the power meter indicates a low charge, but won't charge with either PS. I feel I am chasing a ghost. Does anyone have any ideas? NOTE: If you are using a really nice BMS that has active balancing, you can get away with putting healthy, fresh cells in a tired battery pack. This is because such BMS are able to correct the imbalance fast enough. There is still reduced capacity, but not nearly as much as there would be in a battery pack with a lower-end BMS. However be very careful doing this you do not want to put new cells with old cells that are too far apart in true capacity.
